The Rules:
- Don't be a Jerk.
- This board is community run and serves the needs of this community. If you have problems with another member, please try to resolve it like an adult. If this course does not work, take it a moderator or admin. Mods and Admins have final say on all issues regarding this board.
- AAF is public forum for Mac users primarily but open to anyone. Trolling or Mac bashing for the sake bashing is not allowed. Obviously criticism and intelligent discussion is welcome. (see Notes below)
- Political, religious and other "hot" topic discussions are allowed... to a degree. They must remain respectful (see rule #8) and devolve to pointless arguments. You are not going to change anyone's opinion on certain topics and certainly not on a internet forum. Save your self the headache and just don't get into it. Threads that get out of hand will be closed or removed at staff discretion.
- There will be no advertising or spam. This includes asking for funds for what ever the reason. The exception is that we have a Marketplace section of AAF for selling and buying. Please see that forum, it has specific rules for conduct.
- There will be no posting of anything illegal. In addition there will be no posting of nudity, porn, anything highly offensive, serial numbers, links to software/media that is in violation of copyright or anything the staff deems inappropriate. The assumption is that you will use good judgement and rather than spell out every little detail of what is or is not allowed, ask a staff member if you are unsure.
- Violation of any of these rules could lead to banning, though we prefer to solve things like adults. If banning is warranted, it is permanent. Generally we give you an opportunity to correct the behavior, but depending on the nature banning may happen without warning.
- These are general guidelines. Meaning that ultimately it is at the discretion of the staff. If you get in trouble for something that is not implicitly spelled out here, pointing to the rules and whining is not an excuse or way out. Rule #1 says it all.
Other:
- Generally speaking this is an "adult" forum. Not meaning NC-17 or anything like that, but the speech and demeanor is that similar to that which you find in social setting comprised of adults. There is some "swearing" (though there are filters that you can set to block or the filtering), and discussions of adult topics. This is not a "family" forum. Though it is not a dirty nasty forum either.
- It is important it look at context of statements. If you feel some one is being a jerk, ask them first. There are many folks have been around and communicating with each other for a long time. Some of the interactions may seem mean or harsh, but are more in the realm of friendly ribbing. When in doubt, ask.
- Chess will do anything for a hoagie.
- This is not a place to complain about other forums or communities. If you don't like or are having problems with another site, deal with it there. Most people here frequent other boards as well.
